Do I need a piano or keyboard at home?
Yes! While students will learn great techniques during lessons, those techniques can only be solidified through daily practice. If you are seeking to purchase a piano or keyboard for your home, Candace will gladly guide you through the process.

Where do lessons take place?
Lessons are conducted in Candace Cleary’s piano studio, located in Reston Virginia, in Fairfax County. The studio features a frequently maintained performance-quality grand piano. Lessons can also be conducted remotely via Zoom.

Are parents required to attend lessons?
Parents may find it helpful to attend the first couple of lessons so that they can be supportive of their child’s practice program at home.

How long are the lessons?
The length of the lesson is determined by the student’s level and dedication. Typically, a beginner student will have weekly 30-minute lessons.

Do you have recitals? Is participation required?
Students have the opportunity to participate in two recitals each year, and participation is voluntary. Candace also holds group classes, where students can share their musical discoveries in a non-competitive environment.

Do you teach adults?
Certainly! Whether they are brand-new beginners or more seasoned players, many adults find that piano lessons are a satisfying outlet for self-expression.

What age should my child start lessons?
Many children are ready for formal piano lessons by six years of age, though there are exceptions in both directions. Contact Candace for a complimentary evaluation of when your child could be ready for lessons.
